(1) From the Airports (Any toll prices given correct at July 2011)
From Seville Airport (170km/105miles, approx. 1 hr 50 min):
On leaving airport, turn left towards Seville at main road (A-4/E-5). After 1-2km you meet Seville Ring Road. Follow Cadiz signs and take A-4/E-5 Autopista. After 15km, this turns into the AP-4 (AP=tollroad) to Puerto Real. Here take Exit 101 and follow signs for Algeciras A-48/E-5. Then take Exit 26, to Conil (Note: From the north there, is an earlier Exit 15 to "Conil & El Colorado", but this will be a bit slower). Fuente de Gallo signs will appear as you reach the outskirts of Conil, and you will be directed right, around the town ring road. See directions to house below.
From Jerez Airport (75km/47miles, approx. 1 hr min):
Take A-4 dual carriageway from the airport which takes you around Jerez, passing Puerto Real. As you approach San Fernando stay on the flyover which will take you onto A-48/E-5 to Algeciras. Then take Exit 26 to Conil, as above.
From Malaga Airport (230km/143 miles, approx. 2 hrs 15 min):
From airport keep in right lane after roundabout, take exit onto N-340 (Westbound), after 2 km take Algeciras exit onto the new E15/AP-7 mountain road which is connected by a string of tunnels. Note: there are 3 tolls payable on this fast route (total approx 15 Euro in Jul 2013). There is always the option of taking the old costal route (no tolls), but this takes much longer. AP = Peaje on signs indicates a toll road.
After 1 hour on this road, take Exit 110B to merge onto A-381 going north to "Los Barrios" and "Jerez". From here it is just over 1 hour to Conil... Stay on A-381 for half hour and come off at Exit 31 to "Medina Sidonia". Then follow signs to A-396, and at T-junction go left onto A-396 to "Vejer" (going right takes you to "Chiclana"). At the end of this road, turn right onto E-5/A-48 past Verjer, towards Cadiz. After 11 km take Exit 26 to Conil, as above.
From Gibraltar Airport (122km/76 miles, approx. 1.5hrs):
Cross the border from Gibraltar into La Linea. Take the N-351/CA-34 north to San Roque, and then join the main E-15/A-7 towards Algeciras. Very soon after, take Exit 110B to merge onto A-381 to "Los Barrios" and "Jerez". Then follow same directions as for Malaga Airport.
An alternative route from Gibraltar & Malaga Airports - slower but more scenic - is to continue on the E-15/A-7 towards Algeciras, thus rounding the south tip of Spain beside the Straights of Gibraltar. This has potential for great views of North Africa (only 15km away) on LHS and you pass through the heart of a wind farm - very impressive! From Algeciras follow N-340/E-5, passing Tarifa and Barbate, then Vejer. 15 mintes later take the Conil turning Exit 26, as above.
(2) From main road A-48, to Dias Marinos (avoiding Conil town centre)
From A-48, turn off to Conil onto N-340) at either Exit 26 (from South), or Exit 15 (from North).
Follow signs to Conil and pick up Fuente del Gallo signs on outskirts. Follow series of roundabouts on the ring road, and on the final 1 km you will travel parallel to the coast on a dual carriageway, with the sea on your LHS. The road will then narrow to single track, and at the roundabout take right fork down the hill into Fuente del Gallo. As the road levels out, Restaurante El Marinero and shop will be on your right. Dias Marinos (No. 98) is situated directly opposite on LHS with black wrought iron gate.
Remember: this is a ONE WAY system, so you need to drive round the block to get out again!
